Untamed Souls Madagascar

Madagascar is a place where nature feels almost untouched by time, a vast island of surreal landscapes, ancient forests and coastlines that stretch into turquoise horizons. From the otherworldly silhouettes of the baobab trees at sunset to the dense rainforests echoing with the calls of endemic wildlife, the island offers a rare sense of raw, living wilderness. Beyond its landscapes, Madagascar carries a deep cultural warmth, shaped by a blend of African and Asian influences that gives every encounter a sense of authenticity and connection.

Program

Welcome to Antananarivo, the vibrant capital of Madagascar and the gateway to one of the world’s most fascinating island destinations. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy some time to relax and recover from your journey. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we set out to explore the many faces of Antananarivo, affectionately known as “Tana”. Built across a series of rolling hills and surrounded by lush landscapes, Madagascar’s capital is a captivating blend of history, culture, and daily local life.

Our tour begins at the iconic Royal Palace (Rova of Antananarivo), perched high above the city and offering spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. We

continue to the picturesque Anosy Lake, a peaceful oasis in the heart of the capital, before visiting the historic Ambohipotsy Memorial Church, a site of deep spiritual significance linked to Madagascar’s early Christian history. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.

An early morning transfer takes us to the airport for our domestic flight to Antsiranana (Diego Suarez), Madagascar’s northern gem. Upon arrival, we begin exploring the region’s celebrated Three Bays: Sakalava Bay, Pigeon Bay, and Dune Bay. These breathtaking coves showcase powder-white beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and dramatic coastal scenery. Antsiranana Bay itself is considered one of the largest and most beautiful natural bays in the world, opening gracefully towards the Indian Ocean.

Enjoy time to swim in the warm tropical waters and soak up the beauty of this untouched paradise before transferring to the hotel for check-in. Dinner and overnight stay.

Note: From Antsiranana onwards, transportation will be provided by minivans or

4×4 vehicles, with four guests per vehicle.

Following breakfast, we depart for one of northern Madagascar’s most spectacular natural wonders: the Emerald Sea. Imagine a vast turquoise lagoon scattered with tiny palm-fringed islets, surrounded by dazzling white sands and crystal-clear waters. This idyllic corner of the Indian Ocean is truly postcard-perfect and offers the ideal setting for swimming, relaxation, and unforgettable photographs.

A traditional Malagasy lunch featuring freshly grilled fish, lobster, and rice will be served by the beach. Later, we pass through the beautiful coastal bays of Sakalava, Dune, and Pigeon, while also encountering Madagascar’s iconic Baobab trees, whose unusual silhouettes appear as though they were planted upside down. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.

Note: The excursion is operated using traditional boats with limited shade. Sun protection, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are highly recommended. As sea conditions can occasionally be rough, a waterproof jacket and motion sickness medication may also be useful.

After breakfast, we journey to the lush Amber Mountain National Park, one of Madagascar’s most important biodiversity hotspots. This extraordinary volcanic rainforest is home to endemic flora and fauna, hidden waterfalls, crater lakes, colorful chameleons, and no fewer than seven species of lemurs. The park’s cool climate and dense vegetation create a striking contrast to the dry landscapes of northern Madagascar. During our guided trek, we will immerse ourselves in this unique ecosystem, discovering rare wildlife and some of the island’s most beautiful natural scenery. Following our visit, we continue to Joffreville and check into our lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Note: The hike within Amber Mountain National Park lasts approximately 2.5–3 hours.

This morning we depart for the spectacular Red Tsingy, one of Madagascar’s most extraordinary geological formations. Carved by wind and water over centuries, these striking red laterite pinnacles create an otherworldly landscape reminiscent of a prehistoric world. The constantly changing shapes and colors make this one of the island’s most photogenic sites. We then continue towards the renowned Tsingy formations of Ankarana, famous for their dramatic limestone spires that rise like thousands of stone needles from the earth. Deep canyons, hidden caves, and untouched wilderness combine to create one of Madagascar’s most remarkable natural environments. After exploring the area, we continue to our lodge near Ankarana National Park. Dinner and overnight stay.

Note: The visit to Red Tsingy lasts approximately two hours.

Following breakfast, we return to Ankarana National Park for a deeper exploration of this fascinating protected area. Today’s adventure combines hiking through spectacular landscapes with opportunities to observe lemurs in their natural habitat. We will also visit Madagascar’s revered Sacred Caves, spiritual sites that hold deep cultural significance for local communities.

Towering limestone formations, dense forests, hidden caves, and unique wildlife make Ankarana one of the most rewarding nature experiences in Madagascar. Return to the lodge in the afternoon, with the remainder of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay.

Note: Total activity time within the park is approximately five hours.

After breakfast, we begin our journey towards the tropical island of Nosy Be. En route, we visit a traditional cocoa plantation, where we will learn about the cultivation and processing of Madagascar’s world-renowned cocoa. We will also enjoy a tasting of a rich chocolate beverage infused with the island’s famous spices. Continuing south, we reach the port of Ankify, where a speedboat transfer takes us across the turquoise waters to Nosy Be. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check-in. Dinner and overnight stay.

Note: The journey includes river crossings and a long overland transfer before reaching Ankify. The boat crossing to Nosy Be takes approximately 45–60 minutes.

Enjoy two leisurely days on the idyllic island of Nosy Be, Madagascar’s most famous tropical paradise.

Spend your time relaxing on pristine beaches, swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, enjoying the resort facilities, or joining one of the optional excursions available locally. Accommodation includes dinner daily.

After breakfast, enjoy some final free time for a last swim in the Indian Ocean, a stroll along the beach, or some souvenir shopping, depending on your flight schedule.

At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your onward flight, bringing this unforgettable Madagascar adventure to an end.
